Four Prairie Seeds

“Four Prairie Seeds” is a collection of short, concentrated movements emotionally inspired by aspects of Prairie life and heritage.  The four “seeds” are:

I. Round-up: Wilderness is encountered and tamed, somewhat.

II. Mavericks: Two musicians veer off from the ensemble, and from the score in improvised sections.

III. Chinook: A progression from cold and bleakness to warmth.

IV. Sundance: An intense dance to invoke the renewal of warmth and light.

Duration: ca. 13 minutes

Instrumentation: violin, alto saxophone, percussion, and piano
