“Myosotis” this Saturday in Calgary

Luciane Cardassi will perform my  Myosotis  this Saturday July 27, 4:00 PM at Scarboro United Church in Calgary.  The concert is an exciting program with recent music by Canadian women composers, by the Rubbing Stone Ensemble.  Along with Luciane, saxophonist Jeremy Brown and violist Ronelle Schaufele will also be performing works by Veronica Tapia, Emilie Cecilia LeBel, Rose Bolton’s, Terri Hron and Hope Lee.  Visual artist Joseph Brocke will also working on his canvases in live response to the music.

Myosotis was written especially for the Luciane in all her versatility, on a beautiful poem by Banff poet Monica Meneghetti.  Premiered this January in Canmore, near the Rocky Mountain setting of its inspiration, I’m very excited to hear it again in another community.

The great day shall come when a concert where all the composers happen to be female is nothing to be remarked on, but this too shall be a great day; come out and listen to some living music!
